Processing Plant
In order to transition from traditional mineral processing methods, IMC Ltd, in collaboration with the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum, and Gas Board (RMB) and the Rwanda Green Fund (Fonerwa), has launched a project that will help establish a mineral processing plant within IMC Ltd.
Production
IMC Ltd mines minerals such as Cassiterite and Coltan. Cassiterite accounts for 70%. Coltan is 30%. Cassiterite has a quality of 55-56% Sn. Coltan has a quality of 25-35% Ta2O5. The monthly production is between 14 and 14.5 tons of a mixture of cassiterite and coltan.
Enviroment Conservation
We have planted 45,000 trees over an area of 120 hectares. We have rehabilitated land over an area of 60 hectares. We have constructed anti-erosion terraces over an area of 50 hectares. We have 25 dams that help conserve water used in mining, preventing it from damaging buffer zones. We have a nursery with about 10,000 tree seedlings that will be planted this year, 2025.
Collaborate with authorities
IMC Ltd collaborates with local authorities to repair and construct bridges. IMC Ltd collaborates with local authorities to create roads connecting villages; for example, the 5 km road connecting Nyarusange village to Gasharu. IMC Ltd, in collaboration with local authorities, pays health insurance (Mutuelle de Santé) for the vulnerable. IMC Ltd built two houses for two vulnerable residents in the Muhanga district. IMC Ltd participates in community work (Umuganda). IMC Ltd helped Kabacuzi sector to repair the Kabacuzi genocide memorial site for the genocide against the Tutsi. In collaboration with Kayumbu sector, each of our employees saves for their future with Ejo Heza.
